What to Expect at Your Next Post COVID-19 Appointment
May 29, 2020
Dr. Mitchell A. Jackson and Dr. Melissa Bollinger are talking about appointments instructions for post COVID-19 visits to Jacksoneye office.
Hi, I’m Doctor Mitchell Jackson and I’m Doctor Melissa Bollinger and we’re two of the doctors here at Jacksoneye.
Now that restrictions have been lifted for health care facilities, we’re so excited to continue providing the excellence in eye care you have come to expect.
We understand there will be an increased demand for our services so your patience and understanding through this time is greatly appreciated.
As we carefully resume meeting your routine and surgical eye care needs, we want to assure you that safeguarding everyone against COVID-19 is our priority.
To ensure all the right precautions are taken, your appointment will work differently than you are used to. Don’t worry though, we are as happy and welcoming as ever under our masks and protective coverings.
Detailed information regarding our COVID-19 safeguards are available on our website and in the information you will be receiving prior to your appointment.
We ask that you closely read and follow the protocols we put in place. We will share some of those key instructions with you now.
We’ll be implementing a virtual check in process. Upon arrival to our facility we ask you call to our office to notify us that you’ve arrived to your appointment and to remain in your car until directed otherwise. Once your appointment is ready to begin you will receive a callback from one of our technicians. They will ask you some important questions as they relate to your visit and then notify you when it is time for you to enter our office.
Upon walking into our facility you’ll be greeted by one of our staff members. You’ll be asked a series of screener questions regarding your exposure to COVID-19, recent travel and current symptoms. Please answer these questions as accurately as possible. We will also be checking your temperature with a digital, non-contact thermometer.
Please understand that individuals that have COVID symptoms, have recent exposure or have an elevated temperature will be asked to reschedule their appointment.
We will require you to wear a mask covering your nose and mouth at all times. This can be a bandana, scarf or some type of medical mask. We can also ask you to refrain from talking during all up close parts of your eye exam. We’ll be happy to answer any of your questions once that part of your exam is concluded.
While we loved having your guests accompany you throughout your appointments in the past, they will no longer be allowed to accompany you unless they’re needed for translating or assisting you with movement.
We understand that this can sound like a lot, but we want you to know that we are in this together.
Physicians and staff are wearing face masks and personal protective equipment that is discarded each day. We are answering the same screener health questions and having our temperatures checked daily as well.
Our lobby chairs have been situated to follow social distancing guidelines and are wiped down several times a day. Exam room items including chairs, desks, computers, testing equipment, door handles, and light switches are cleaned and sanitized after every guest.
Our doctors are also offering telemedicine appointments for non-vision emergencies to eliminate person-to-person contact. This is a great option for many and more information is available on our website.
We hope that the precautions we are taking will put you at ease.
Though the world around us may have changed our commitment to you, your safety, and your precious sense of vision will always endure.
We look forward to seeing you at Jacksoneye very soon.
